It took me a few months but I finally finished painting and made some prints of my Skateboarding Frog and Toads in Devon! A4 digital prints available in my MabelArt Ety shop MabelArt | Etsy . Also please check out my MabelArt Teemill shop MabelArt (teemill.com) for clothing that is organic, sustainable and circular with colourful frog and toads plus black and white line designs.
I have painted some cool Skateboarding Frog and Toads in Devon, at locations that are in hopping distance from where I live. Inspired by Sky Brown’s skateboarding skills at the Olympics last summer I wanted to show our small amphibian friends showing off their skills along our beauttiful Devon coast.
Skateboarding Natterjack Toad (Epidalea calamita) at Teignmouth Beach, Devon. There is a wee little skatepark behind Teignmouth Beach, often very busy with skateboards, scooters and BMX bikes. All in the shadow of a little lighthouse and the Ness headland in the background. Niamh the Natterkack is with her friend Bee Boy showing others how to do wicked handstand.
Skateboarding Common Frog (Rana temporaria) at Budleigh Salteron Beach, Devon. There is a wonderful wetland reserve upstream from the River Otter estuary, behind Budleigh Beach. What more could Frieda Frog ask for? Wetland, skatepark and a beach – with the best pebbles ever! Frieda and her buddy Admiral Red are just enjoying the ramps and the sunshine.
Skateboarding Common Toad (Bufo bufo) at Oddicombe Beach, Babbacombe, Torquay, Devon. There is no skatepark at Oddicombe Beach, but Thom and his friend Layla Ladybird love going up and down in the Cliff Railway and skating along the promenade. Such a lovely beach surrounded by lush wooded cliffs.
Enjoy!
