Now is the perfect time of year to get out and about. The birds are singing and lots of spring flowers are blooming! In my aim to get more active and do my bit for wildlife, I have signed up to an RSPB sponsored walk. I will walk 73km (45.36miles) for 73 of our most endangered bird species over April. That’s 2.5km or 1.55miles each day. 💪 I know it might not seem a great distance for some people but I need some goals to get me regularly exercising!
I kicked off yesterday, day one, with 4km!!! 😁 It’s called the Early Bird Challenge, but I’m sure the puffins won’t mind if people do a lovely evening walk or run instead! I might do more of an ‘early owl challenge’?! 😆
🎨A little puffin painting I made in January, part of a larger project that I have yet to finish 🙈. Acrylic paint on watercolour paper. Pound coin to show how mini the painting is, but also subliminally making you want to hand over cash for puffins! Haha! 😉 Completely optional donation pot here in case, you fancy supporting wild bird conservation.
📷Photo of me with puffins standing behind, outside their nest burrows, at Skomer Island, Pembrokeshire, Wales, taken in late May 2018 on a family holiday. This was either my third or fourth visit! It’s one of the best places to see puffins, in fact the whole island is a little paradise for so much wildlife! We saw chough, short-eared owl, grey seal and common lizard amongst many other things. Really praying for the puffins to return in full force this summer, the storms earlier this spring have been devastating.
